How To Get Rid Of Ads On Abc App

Guys, the ABC app is terrible.

Not just because I hate ads.

First it wouldn't let me login/authenticate (despite having been logged in before), then it did--but halfway through the latest episode it suddenly and inexplicably restarted the episode from the beginning. So I had to skip around to find my spot, accidentally spoiling myself and being forced to sit through even more ads.

While I haven't had problems as bad as yours, it annoys me that they take down episodes before the season is done. For three seasons now, I inevitably get behind, then go back to catch up, and have at least one episode that I haven't seen that has been removed! In what world does this make sense?!

I will never understand that logic. If they want people to get caught up on a show, they need to make it available to them. There have been a couple of different series that I've heard good things about, but it's past the five-episode threshold, so I can't actually start from the beginning.

Blame Netflix as much as anybody. They won't pay as much for the rights to a show they feel has been overly exploited or exposed, hence the rolling 3 or so episodes online as the season goes on.

I'm pretty sure they've prepaid for the rights to Agents of Shield and other shows, so ABC would be limited in what they can do about it since that back end guarantee would factor into their budget planning for keeping the show on the air.

I use apple tv. Such a pain in the ass that the legal method takes like 12 excruciating steps to set up.

It also looks weirdly formatted on my Android tablet. At least on TV you have a variety of commercials; the ABC app just has the same ones every time. The CW app is even worse.

The app has been absolutely awful and I'd given up on it earlier this season. But then I tried just using the website and connecting my laptop to my TV and it's worked wonderfully for me ever since.

I wish they would just fix the damn app (and make it available on more recent devices, like the XBone!) but at least streaming or replaying through the website works.

I stream the app to my TV via chromecast, which works great when the app works. :-/

At least you can stream with the app. Bostonians cannot use CBS OR ABC with FiOS(not sure about rcn and comfuck)...yet the both channels are available OTA.

Had the same problem, I still haven't been able to login. Are you on the Apple TV? Had to use the PlayStation Vue app.

No, I have the Android app on my phone, and use Chromecast to put it on the TV.

I hit the same issues with streaming USA network's shows on their site. The show will inexplicably freeze during some ads (with my adblocker off), which forces me to restart the show. And go through the ads again. Which half the time will fail again before I can even catch up.
